Overnight Outage due to Switch Failure
We had an outage overnight due to an edge switch port failure. This is now resolved. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Some questions
George,
What time started and finished the outage? At what time did you realize about the problem? We had at the City Council an sign in process for an employment and many citizens couldn't connect to do it.
What kind of support do you give? Just asking because I don't know. Is it 8x5 labour hours in USA or 24x7? As we are in Europe normally we don't receive any answer to our tickets til afternoon, and that is a problem for us.

Thanks for the quick response in getting this fixed!
Would it be possible, for future postings like this, to include how long the outage occurred, which servers were affected and what steps were taken to avoid such an outage in the future? In the case of an edge switch or router I would imagine all servers in that particular data center would be affected, in which case something like "All servers in the Texas data center were affected". This helps us to better inform our clients. I realize that equipment failure cannot be predicted, but letting folks know how you plan to handle this problem in the future gives confidence.
